“The Run for the Roses:”
Del Mar Saddle Club Hosts San Diego Symphony Luncheon

An Equestrian Delight for Racing Fans and Symphony Supporters Alike

And they’re off! On Saturday, May 1, the Saddle Club at the Del Mar Race Track will be the setting for San Diego Symphony’s The Run for the Roses afternoon soirée. The Run for the Roses includes lunch at 12:30, musical entertainment by the San Diego Symphony Horn Quartet and views of champion horses and their riders preparing for the dressage competition. The Run for the Roses is being chaired by longtime San Diego Symphony supporter, Elizabeth Oliver.
In the finest of horseracing traditions, those attending The Run for the Roses will enjoy exquisite Southern hospitality with mint julep refreshments adding a bit of old Kentucky charm to San Diego’s North County. And what horseracing event wouldn’t be complete without a Best Hat Contest to add to the festivities? Known as “The Most Exciting Two Minutes in Sports,” attendees will also have the chance to place their bets as the Kentucky Derby gets underway live from Churchill Downs at 3 p.m.
The winner of the Best Hat Contest will receive a custom-made hat by millinery designer, Diana Cavagnaro. In addition, those attending can enter the opportunity drawing for a chance to win a New York getaway for two. Tickets to The Run for the Roses are $100 and include complimentary parking, lunch, refreshments, $100 gift certificates to La Jolla Cosmetic Laser Clinic and a certificate for a pearl necklace provided by Diamond Boutique.
The Run for the Roses will be hosted by the Symphony Stars, a unique group of San Diego women whose mission is to support the San Diego Symphony, build
-more-
friendships, foster an appreciation of the music and help to ensure that the Symphony remains a vital and vibrant part of our community. Of course, men are also welcome to attend this event.
