Famous Outer Space Music for the Whole Family
Thanks to its major corporate sponsor, San Diego Symphony will perform the TARGET Free Family Concert at the Spreckels Organ Pavilion on Sunday, July 12 at 5:30 p.m. The general public is welcome. Festivities get underway at 4:30 p.m. when Symphony and TARGET representatives will be hosting a musical petting zoo offering kids of all ages an up close and personal view of selected musical instruments with even the opportunity to try your hand at being a “musician for the moment.” The TARGET mascot dog will be there to welcome concert attendees, and the staff will distribute TARGET free plastic water bottles on a first-come, first-served basis.
Popular San Diego Symphony conductor Matthew Garbutt will lead the orchestra in a concert titled, To Infinity and Beyond: Symphony in the Stars, which will feature famous outer space music for the whole family. Musical selections include 2001 Fanfare: A Space Odyssey, excerpts from E.T and Close Encounters of the Third Kind, the theme from television’s The Jetsons and the themes from Star Trek through the years.
San Diego Symphony encourages everyone to pack up the kids and head to Balboa Park for the TARGET Free Family Concert and a entertaining evening of symphonic music from outer space!
