San Diego Symphony String Quartet

The San Diego Symphony String Quartet consists of principal string musicians of San Diego Symphony. Quartet performances allow these principals to increase their exposure to the San Diego community, and the concerts provide valuable performance experience in a chamber setting. The musicians help to raise the profile of San Diego Symphony as well. The Quartet first began performing as a distinct ensemble during the 2006-07 season.

The San Diego Symphony String Quartet is:

Jeff Thayer, violin
Alexander Palamidis, violin
Che-Yen Chen, viola
Yao Zhao, cello

The San Diego Symphony String Quartet will be featured on the San Diego Symphony Chamber Music Recital on Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at Irwin M. Jacobs Qualcomm Hall. The concert begins at 7:30pm.

The San Diego Symphony String Quartet is performing in an ongoing series of joint chamber concerts ("Camera Lucida") with faculty members of the University of California San Diego Music Department. In the 2009-2010 season, all six concerts will be performed at the new Conrad Prebys Concert Hall on the campus of UCSD. Tickets for these concerts are sold through the UCSD Music Department only, see their website for details.

The Quartet also appears occasionally during "What's The Score?" pre-concert talks, hosted by Nuvi Mehta, during the current Jacobs' Masterworks season. The Quartet has also appeared on Symphony Exposed concerts, also hosted by Mr. Mehta.
